Know Your Worth

Know Your Worth

How much have you invested in yourself? This is a new question I pose to myself at the close of a week. It is a new practice similar to a positive affirmation. Maybe I'll call it positive inventory. Once a week I will ask myself questions designed to challenge how I spend my time and money. If I don't like my response I will consider what I can do differently to improve my returns.

Recently, I learned about ladder investments. This is a term that refers to making investments of different amounts and times. The purpose of practicing this investment pattern is to earn at a range of competitive rates and maturity dates. In other words, if I continue to make investments into myself at different times, I can withdrawal from them when I may otherwise feel depleted.

I love to help others, inspire and do good deeds. It is important for me to be present when I spend time with others or it is not considered quality time. These are my thoughts. So, when I give too much of my time to others I'm not setting boundaries. How so? I have other responsibilities, deadlines and need time to rest. Yes, there are 24 hours in a day, but it is not intended to spend them all giving all you have. When I avoid saying no what is that costing me? If I carry the burden of accepting mistreatment, what does that cost me? The cost, mental wellness. The maintenance of my mental wellness has to be a top priority on my daily agenda. Let me know what you think!
