On a recent trip to Noneofyourbusinessville, I experienced several situations that led to this very blog posting. Time in particular and my observations on how others arrived to the various destinations of the day.
Let me start with a few questions:
What determines your movements?
How do you know what instructions to follow?
Have you ever seen or used a moving walkway in the airport? If you are not familiar, think of an escalator but instead of steps they are flat like the floor. Imagine you waiting on one end for someone to ride down before you can get to your destination. The person has a dilly dolly way about their movements. They are looking at everything around them in amazement, enjoying a snail pace not making any movements. Goodness, their head in the clouds watching everyone around them in motion. This observation reminded me to not to turn back my old ways, wasting time. I cannot wait for people when I have been instructed by God to move. I have left people behind throughout my life. At the time I may have heard naysaying and grumbling but I had to go. Honestly, some people are still where I left them decades later.
Leaving them behind did not result in the termination of the relationship with everyone. Some people eventually respected that I would be fine without them. It makes me think, maybe it was the opposite, they did not think they would be fine without me. Well, I do not like that kind of dependency on me. It is an unhealthy relationship dynamic. My wait is because God is working it out, so my wait is different. I will share with you here a few things I do instead:
I trust that what He promised will be.
I get out of HIs way.
I talk to Him throughout the moments when I feel discouraged.
I work on other projects and assignments while I wait.
I prepare, making space for the very blessing I am waiting on.
I get my house in order. Your house is internal and external.
I worship Him.
I listen to Him and pray that I do not miss what He has for me or become deceived along the way.
I hope this blog helps you reconsider how you wait. I pray you will find the beauty in waiting on His promises to take place. If you force it, it is not the same because you will try to make things happen that were not a part of the process. Trust in Him. Proverbs 3:5-6
