In recent weeks I have encountered several snakes in my garden. The first time, I try to avoid seeing what was there. The second time it was so close to me I couldn't understand how it didn't bite me. In both snake incidents I came in to contact with them when I went back for something I forgot. Another similar factor, the grass was freshly cut. If you know anything about mowing a lawn, you don't always cut your grass the same height. During my snake encounters the grass was cut as low as it could be without looking bare.
So, I realized the snakes have always been there, years even. What was different now? What in my garden gave them freedom to move around with a freedom? All this time we may have been moving without crossing paths. I wasn't a problem for them, and they were not for me. Or is that not the case? If they have been here all along, they were making a home in what did not belong to them. These snakes were making themselves comfortable where they now considered their home. They came and went as they pleased without my knowledge. Again, something changed that caused them to now make their slithery selves known to me.
Ya girl went back to get something she didn't need but wanted. Both times I was headed on my way to a destination, and my own vanity caused me to go back. I frequently remind myself, "don't look back" because of the danger. What I hadn't done was tell myself, "Don't go back". When I saw these snakes, I did not have time to overthink the process to determine the type of snake they were, check for markings or other details. I only had time to get away and figure out the details later. In the safety of my home, car, or the destination I planned were the best options to assess what happened.
Okay, I shared this story to serve as a reminder there are people out there who were always there waiting for their moment to intimidate you. Once I saw these snakes, in two different sections of the same place, I began to look for them every time I go in my garden. Guess what, I discovered there were some neglected areas of my garden that gave them a hiding place.
I leave you with this, don't look back, keep pressing ahead. Don't not leave yourself unprotected, uncovered, or become too comfortable with things being one way. To quote my son, "Keep your head on a swivel and pivot when you need to". Snakes are always there lurking, hiding and waiting for their moment. Be careful as you go through your garden of life and be aware of any parts of your life with unresolved pain, fear, anxiety, depression, bitterness and resentment. These matters are dietary needs of snakes. Start healing today by getting connected with the right sources.
