Are you familiar with the game Would You Rather? Let's play for a brief moment! Would you rather stay stuck believing a lie or would you rather know the truth and be set free? While I may not be able may not be able to hear your response I assume the average response would be the latter. My blog today is focused on just that, how to achieve the later.
Think of a name you have been called in the past, maybe lazy, ugly, or another term not pleasant to your ear. That not so pleasant term has been planted, grown roots and bearing fruit in the image of who you are. Did you know that? This idea of an event in your life, often childhood or moment of vulnerability or trauma led to a weed being planted in your mind. This weed, similar to a garden, became invasive and twisted itself in the beautiful flowers (terms, memories, facts, etc.) of your mind. A direct result of these invasive weeds is that they get stronger and bigger as they grow creeping into places they do not belong.
What weeds do you have in your mind that hem you up when you are trying to obtain life tasks or goals? What goal (s) have you hit a brick wall in trying to accomplish? Becoming a business owner? Going for that promotion? Allowing yourself to embrace the love you deserve? There are weeds that have found their way into your thought process trapping your beautiful flowers with unruly weeds.
As mentioned here are a few ways to stop focusing on the weeds.
1. Challenge that thought with evidence of the truth. (I use scripture as a reference)
2. Create and plant beautiful flowers. (positive affirmations, speak life into those areas once dead)
3. Do not obsess on where you are stuck.
4. Do not identify yourself with the weed. (Instead of believing you are an ugly person. Tell yourself, I am not a ugly person. I have a beautiful spirit that shines from the inside out.)
These sound simple, maybe even child-like to you but they work if you stick with it! Sure enough you can do it because you are an beautiful and wise person who can achieve equally as beautiful things.
Be Encouraged,
Dr. K
